Hello! What is your DF name?
êÏ~bas†ardo *ƒ

Which Delta Force game(s) do you make maps for?
BHD TeamSAbre at the moment.

Why did you start making maps for Delta Force?
The MED was there so I thought I'd give it a go.

Did you find it hard at first?
Yes, I hadn't read the 3D view bit so heights were a pain in the ass.

Have you ever read the mission Editor Manual on the DF CD?
I actually printed the damn thing off & read it at work.

If Yes - Was it useful or does it need more information?
Yes it was useful from what i can remember. a few more tutorials could be
handy, but then again you can pick them up from map resource sites.

What version of the MED do you use?
I usually use the unlocked one from DFHQ but since Team Sabre i haven't
dowloaded it again yet.

What’s good about that particular one?
The unlocked 1 refreshes the parts the stndard 1 cannot reach !

Where did you get it from (if not the DF CD-ROM)?
DFHQ

What is the most useful utility for a map maker apart from the actual MED?
the best thing I had when i first started was the "101 tips" file Stevie B
made for Land Warrior - not just saying that but it really was useful.

Where did you get that from?
DFHQ again lol

Do you have a favorite item / object from the MED?
Don't know why but I seem to like the yellow civi helicopter

What is the easiest game type to make a map for?
Death Match definitely. I've played some which are just a bunch of objects
placed around & spawns spread out around the place & even simple ones like
that can be a good laugh.

What is the hardest game type to make a map for?
The hardest thing to do by far is come up with something different. Taking
the time to fit all objects together perfectly on a full custom job can be
time consuming. I like to combine objects & buildings to make something that
looks good but is still very playable.

What is the longest time it has taken you to make a map / mission?
About a week. That's a few hours per night tho because otherwise the FPO
would kill me (FPO = Fun Prevention Officer - ie. missus).

Was it worth it?
Yes. It's always worth it when you see people playing it in a server.

Did you ever make a map before you found out how to zoom in / out in the
MED?

No, how could you?

What is the most useful thing in the MED (e.g. group rotate, different
terrain views, absolute height)?

Shift right click to centre the view on an object. In making custom objects
fit together it's invaluable to zoom right in to line them up. Also the
ability to open a map in page 2 & paste objects acorss is excellent, I use
that for every map I make when I add the "*F" logo in the sky.

What feature is the MED missing that would make map making a lot easier?
A pre-made set of waypoints that you could just paste in and a way of
swapping vehicles easily would save a lot of time. You could have something
like 10 sets of waypoints already programmed with various details and listed
as wp1 set, wp2 set etc. I tend to refer bcak to a previous map where I have
used something similar & cut & paste it aross.

How many maps do you think you have made?
probably about 30 ish.

Do you have your own website for your maps?
Not specifiacally but there's a few of mine and some more from the Friction
members on the teamfriction website www.teamfriction.net

Do you submit your maps to any sites?
Recently, if I think it might not be a bad map I put it on DFHQ first, then
once everyone has had a chance to download it I might consider putting it on
DF Barracks.

If Yes - Do they get good reviews?
I seem to get good reviews on the ones I submit.

Can you name the best map you have ever played and do you know who made it?
Buggered if i could say really. i've played hundreds. To give you an idea
I've got 122 TDM & 128 TKOTH maps on my babstats page at the moment....

Can you name any other people who make great maps (apart from yourself)?
HumaShield *f is making some good ones at the moment Zz is good on
deathmatch maps, other than that I get a good mixture from different makers.

How did you learn to make maps (self, website, friend etc)?
Self & a few tips like the z-values list etc

Do you have a tip that would be helpful to someone who was new to map
making?

Download & read as many tutorials & tips as you can & don't be afriad to
experiment, but listen to people's feedback.

Have you ever made a map with the full amount of items?
No, I am always conscious of the amount of items I use so as not to cause
any graphic lag....It's a shame when u see a good looking map spoilt because
it's unplayable due to too may objects lagging itup.

Do you have a terrain that you like the most?
Not really I use different terrains for different style maps. Generally I go
from 1 extreme to the other tho. either loads of hills or, recently I've
been using trhe flat terrain & working on multi-levels using concrete slabs.

Ever make your own terrains?
Nope. Looked into it once but never really got round to doing it.

If not - would you like to? Or do you not know how, but would if you had
info on how to make them?

I would love the time to. I know 3DS Max too so thought about making some
mod vehicles but just couldn't ever imagine having the time to do it :( with
everthing else i need to fit in a day.

Is there any items / buildings / vehicles that you would like to see in the
MED?

Yes, lots. Where do I start? Trains, more multi-level buildings (the UN
building is one of Nova's best so far), some kind of modular building
components that you could fit together easily would be good too, that way
some of the guys who are relatively new to map making could start off making
custom buildings and also there could be no end of combinations, making some
interesting buildings.

Do you add a signature / your name to the maps you make?
Yeah I usually put the Friction logo on mine & all the squad members maps.

If Yes - What is it made from, what does it say and where do you usually put
it?

It's usually just a *F in the sky. or it could say Team Friction. made up
from containers or wall pieces.

Has anyone ever stole one of your maps and claimed that they have made it?
Not to my knowledge.

If someone steals a map, should the original maker be angry, flattered, or
both?

Both. But definitely pissed off at the thief.

Do you like Nova's multiplayer maps?
Recently some of them aren't too bad. the worst ones were in TFD, they were
just thrown together quickly.

Do you think your maps are better?
In some ways I'd like to think so.

Do you like Nova's single player missions?
Yeah, theyre not bad.

Do you think your missions are better?
I don't really make SP maps. I make more multiplayer maps.

Have you ever used a BMS to MIS converter to see how another map was made?
I use the BMS - MIS convertor to ammend maps that people send to me for
adjustment if they send just the BMS file. I also add the *F logo to maps
made by my squad members if they are to be available for download from the
site.

Do you get ideas / inspiration from other maps?
Yeah my latest map CATALYST picks up inspiration for the travelling
platforms from a map made by a guy called lifeisrest.

Which is better: night maps or day maps?
Day, definitely

Any comments you would like to add?
damn good work you guys have been doing at DFHQ for years now, keep it up &
ty on behalf of a lot of DF players out there.

Any comments you would like Novalogic to take note of?
TAKE TIME OVER THE STOCK MAPS FFS....the ladder-death glitch is completely
innexcusable.

Thanks for your time and best of luck with the mapping in the future :)
